Sacramental Preparation for First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation is provided in conjunction with the regular Parish School of Religion classes. The normal time for children to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Penance) for the first time is during the first semester of the second grade. Preparation for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion will begin after the catechesis and celebration of the Sacrament of First Reconciliation has been completed. The celebration of First Communion should be in the second semester of second grade. Students in higher grades will be accommodated in special classes when available.
Any student who will be receiving these sacraments must have attended a minimum of 1 year of PSR or approved religious study.
The Confirmation program begins in third grade and continues through eighth grade; therefore, continuous enrollment in the Parish School of Religion is required. During seventh and eighth grade we take a more specific focus on the Sacrament of Confirmation and living as a part of the Parish community.
It is required that all parents who present their children for sacramental preparation attend all meetings regarding the reception of the sacraments. Important information and materials will be given out at this time.
Sacramental Information Packets are given directly to students or emailed. If you need a copy, contact the PSR office at [email protected].
