Published 7-27-25 bulletin

FR. DAN SHAUGHNESSY

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Hi all,

I’m writing this bulletin column as a passenger on the bus on the way home from the Steubenville Youth Conference in Springfield, MO. What an absolutely joyful weekend!

As Catholics navigating our way in the world, I think we can sometimes get discouraged by struggles in the Church; by trials on our individual faith journeys; or whatever it might be. That said, after a weekend like the one I just enjoyed, led by our High School Youth Minister, Tess Tiemeyer, I have to say that there is a lot of cause for optimism in the Church. These teens, with whom I shared a wonderful weekend, are all searching for an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ. They are really inspirational young men and women who are navigating a tough world. Pray for them.

I hope that all of these young people’s parents and grand-parents, brothers and sisters, families at large, are as open to the movements of the Holy Spirit in their lives, as these young people are.

May God bless you all. When you read this God willing, I will be in Irene, South Dakota, at Broom Tree, on my 8 Day Retreat! Enjoy these last few weeks before school starts back up.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Dan Shaughnessy
