Be the Light in the Darkness

Published 7-13-25 bulletin

FR. DAN SHAUGHNESSY

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Today, we have much to celebrate! As Catholic Christians, we are called to be the light in the darkness.

Recently, legislation passed in Washington, D.C. that will result in Planned Parent- hood losing close to $1 billion in taxpayer funding, potentially leading to the closure of nearly 200 facilities. This is a significant victory for the Pro-Life movement and for fostering a Culture of Life in the United States. While we rejoice in this legislative achievement, we must remember that changing our culture requires more than laws; it requires us to be prayer warriors and witnesses of love, drawing people to the Truth.

Additionally, we are called to back our beliefs with action. Financial donations, along with gifts of essentials like diapers, formula, and car seats, can make a real difference. If you or anyone you know is open to fostering or adopting children, that is a powerful testament to a Culture of Life. As your pastor here at St. Pat’s, I am continually inspired by foster parents who welcome little ones into their homes. Please let me know how our parish can support those who are fostering.

God’s blessings to you all.

Happy Summer!

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Dan Shaughnessy
